| Pressure from environmental groups forced the cancellation of the Croisiere Blanche this year - but the many adherents who attended were still able to get in some snow driving thanks to some quick thinking by the organisers who switched to an agenda that used only public roads; since many of these are snow-covered trails used on the Croisiere anyway, the participants didn't miss much. See Croisiere 2009 for the full story. Check out our three-car group feature as well to see how things have changed since the era of the original Willys. The CJ5 was arguably the first recreational spin-off from the wartime Willys, but it was still a pretty basic truck; has the refined new Wrangler lost the rugged off-road plot? We took this historic trio to the depths of Wales to find out...click here for our verdict. Meanwhile two other veteran Jeeps made their way to the Welsh forests in support of the three-car test featured above; click on the Hotchkiss picture to read more about that flat-fender adventure. |
